Home Studio Adventures

Mike Saliani Band

On October 1st, 2003, I opened the doors to my first home recording studio on 48th ave in the Sunset District of San Francisco. I printed out business cards and made rounds to all the San Francisco open mics, offering affordable demo recordings to folks just starting out on their musical journey. The operation developed along with my engineering chops, and soon I began recording and producing EP's and full length albums with local artists. A core client base and community started building around the Duvateen HQ. Friendships and bands were created while we spent off the clock time congregating around my record collection in the “lounge.” Pork ribs, beer, music. Great memories.

Through the years there have been a few changes in location, as my studio naturally moves when I move. It has been a series of temporary recording set ups. Although I have nothing but great memories of all the artists that have come through the door, and all the recording sessions in all the varied temporary locations, I am excited to announce that I will soon be shopping for a permanent place to build the studio I have dreamed about since the day I started my business.

Thanks to everyone for sticking it out through the changes, especially the folks that have been with me since the beginning. As I look back at all the studio adventures, it's been a long road filled with hard work and great memories, and I definitely wouldn't change a thing. I'm proud of the work we've done.

I'll keep everyone posted as I am hoping to be planted and booking studio time by the end of summer 2018. Then we shall continue to create great music together.

Onward!

Best,

Gavin
